Much has happened since I wrote here last. My apologies to those of you who check in on me. So...since my last post, I've turned 40. I celebrated my birthday for over 3 weeks and it ended with a suprise party put on by my dear hubby on March 29th. There were over 40 people that showed up for it. I got some great gifts and the most suprise gift was my pink bass guitar from Jay. I have named her Gypsy and I'm in love with her.
On March 17th, I started my IV antibiotic and continue to be on it even now. Its all going ok. I was pretty sick the first few weeks but I think my body has adjusted to the heavy meds. My last clinic visit hasn't shown any improvement in my lung function as of yet.
I have been enjoying visiting with my family and friends....alot.... I'm not letting CF slow me down, although somedays I just have no energy to do anything. But I still get out there and do something. I spend alot of time at the farm with my horses. I am now on Hemi's back regularly and he seems fine with it. I've been trail riding on my pony, Brandy and we learned how to jump ditches and fallen trees and swimming in a pond.
A month ago, Jay got a great job in Toronto by the airport doing mechanical engineering stuff. He is very happy there and I'm very happy that he is working. Sure makes things easier when there is an income. Right now it is a contract position but he's hoping that it will turn into a salary position. They are looking for a long term employee. So, that means we have our eyes and ears open for a small farm in the Milton, Acton, Guelph, Georgetown areas to move to with my horses and to lessen the drive for Jay to Toronto and back.
I am still active on the board for The Refuge in Oshawa, fulfilling my last year of my term in office. I'm also still on the board for the CCFF here in Kitchener. That resulted in a trip to PEI for a weekend for the Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It was a great weekend. I met great people and learned alot about CF. Some of it scared the crap out of me, but its better to know some of this stuff and be prepared. I also do speaking engagements at various functions that do fundraising for CF...(ya...me...public speaking...scary stuff....)
Its the time of year when I get my bike out and I've already been enjoying some great riding weather. I usually do a couple charity events on motor bike, but this year, I have family obligations instead.
So, other than this stuff, my daily regime is still consisting of sleeping at least 10 hours a night, going to the gym, doing physio, doing IV treatment once a day, getting blood work done 2 times a week, picking up meds once a week, getting the dressing on my picc line changed once a week and various Dr appointments and breathing tests and cat scans. Life is certainly busy.
(I tried to upload pics, but the site won't let me. If any of you are on facebook, look me up at Kim Witkowski-Hanenburg. I have lots of pics there.)
Have a Blessed Day
